I-CAN Projects

I-CAN has the flexibility and adaptability to handle a variety of different types of projects which require specialized expertise in a diverse set of sectors.

These projects may vary from multi-partner and industry joint ventures and consortia, to smaller projects involving only one member of I-CAN and select government or industry partners.

To date, I-CAN has embarked upon two major flagship projects: Mountain Pine Beetle Newsprint program, and Carbon  Algae Recycling System (CARS) program.

Both projects address major challenges of national importance where technology innovation can play a pivotal role. Both projects involve multiple government and industry partners.

FUTURE PROJECT CONSIDERATIONS

The I-CAN Board of Directors are currently considering other future national challenges that face industry and the public, and how innovation can help resolve those issues.

To that end, I-CAN directors participated in the inaugural Jasper Innovation Forum in early summer 2008. The event brought together 65 of the world's most innovative thinkers and specialists in a variety of sectors to ponder future directions for research that hold the potential for great positive impact in Canada and the world.
